It is with great pleasure that we welcome Father Tommy Alan Thompson as the new Rector of Washington Memorial Chapel.
Father Tommy is originally from Nashville, TN and moved to the area in 2012 after serving various parishes in Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia. Since 2016, he was Rector at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Glenmoore. Father Tommy received his Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary (Alexandria, VA), his M.Div from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY), and his B.A. in Religion/Pastoral Ministries from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN).
In his spare time, Father Tommy enjoys strength training (he tries to compete in a powerlifting meet once or twice per year), fishing, motorcycling, all things barbecue, and spending quality time with his family.
He has been married to his wife, Leslie, for twenty years. She is originally from Roanoke, VA, and they met in college in Nashville, TN. She is a preschool teacher in Oreland and enjoys singing, baking, and collecting cookbooks.They have two children. Daniel is nineteen years of age and is in his second year at West Chester University. He loves science, in particular, astronomy/earth and space science. Hannah is fifteen years of age and is a Freshman at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. She is a cheerleader at PWHS and loves playing with their two shih-tzus (Kipper and Duncan).He is excited about starting his new ministry at Washington Memorial Chapel, and most especially getting to know us!
