SUNG MASS FOR THE FEAST OF THE ASCENSION

Dear Friends,

Forty Days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascended into the heavenly realm. This is why we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension on a Thursday 40 days after the Resurrection. The Ascension is one of the most important feasts of the year as it is a very vital and central piece of God’s mighty acts in salvation history. If you look in the Book of Common Prayer, we rank the Feast of the Ascension as one of the seven Principal Feasts of the Christian Year. This is similar to the way the Roman church ranks the most important days as “Days of Holy Obligation.” In the same way we would never skip Christmas Day regardless of what day on which it falls, we do not skip over the Ascension, but celebrate it on the day. It is that important.

We hope you will sign up to join us for a Sung Mass for the Feast of the Ascension Thursday May 13, 2021 at 7pm. “God has gone up with a merry noise!” Come and see!
